Repeat Prescriptions

Our strong preference for repeat requests is to be done using the NHS App. Alternatively they can be ordered online via the website. Both these are the quickest and most effcient way for you to obtain your medication.

If those methods are unavailbale to you then complete the prescription request slip in the surgery, or return the white slip of your prescription to the surgery with the medication required indicated. There is a post box in the lobby for all paper prescription requests to be dropped off so no need for queuing

Your prescription will be ready to collect after 2 working days. Please advise us of your preferred pick-up location.

Please note we do not accept verbal prescription requests.

Prescription Charges and Exceptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount, which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS Charges

The charges are:

Prescription (per item): £9.65
3 month prepayment certificate (PPC): £31.25
12 month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Repeat Dispensing

We are now able to batch prescribe medication for those patients who are on long term medication. This means a six or twelve month supply of medication can be sent to the pharmacy and you don’t need to visit the surgery or request the medication online every time you need more. Your GP or nurse will continue to review you every year and update your medicines.
